Argentina
Gauchos, Malbec & Mountains
The Passion Of The Tango
Stretching nearly 3,500-kilometres to the very southern tip of South America, Argentina is the land of the tango, gauchos, polo, malbec, glacier-topped mountains and perfectly grilled steaks. Our hand-crafted, bespoke Argentina and Patagonia tours, are tailored specifically to your personal interests, whether you’re a hardened outdoor adventurer or an avid culture vulture.
Many begin their journeys by enjoying the cosmopolitan splendour of Buenos Aires and strolling through pretty green parks, browsing art galleries, shopping for designer clothes and lingering over coffee at streetside cafés. Then drink in the night-owl energy of the passionate locals as the sun sets and stylish bistros, bars and sultry tango ballrooms come alive.
Argentina’s cultural heritage is the perfect partner to its natural beauty. With our tailor-made and totally customised Argentina tours, you can experience the life of a gaucho staying at an estancia in the pampas, swim in gin-clear lakes and fly fish trout-filled rivers in Patagonia, then head to Mendoza to feast on the gastronomy and award-winning wines of Argentina’s gourmet capital. But that’s just the beginning. You might also work with the Classic Safari Company’s highly experienced team to track jaguars in the Ibera wetlands, traverse the mythical valleys, salt flats and ancient Inca settlements of Salta and marvel at the power of Iguazú Falls.
Wilderness lovers like to combine a tailormade Patagonia adventure with an expeditionary cruise into Antarctica. The opportunity to feel dwarfed by immense glaciers and see penguins and whales at play in a part of the world rarely touched by humans is something that you’ll never forget.

Argentina’s diverse regions from Pampas to Patagonia
Argentinean Patagonia
Patagonia is a vast and empty wind-swept triangle at the southern-most tip of South America – the continent’s Southern Frontier, and a wonderful chance to experience Argentina’s many qualities. Awash with breathtaking landscapes and filled with expansive lakes, arid plateaus, mighty glaciers, snow-capped mountains and ethereal forests, it is the outdoor adventurer’s playground and wilderness lover’s paradise. Horse-riding, white-water rafting, mountain biking, fly fishing, hiking, volcano-climbing and fjord cruising are all on offer and destination highlights include the breathtaking Puerto Moreno Glacier and the lonely archipelago of Tierra del Fuego. Every one of our Patagonia tours is tailored to you and your personal interest in this majestic corner of the world. Explore at your pace.
Buenos Aires & the Pampas
Known as the ‘Paris of South America,' Argentina's grandiose capital, with its wide tree-lined avenues, vibrant café culture and cosmopolitan joie de vivre has a distinctly European character. Stroll the botanical gardens, explore the museums of Palermo, sip Malbec and enjoy butter-soft steak in a traditional parilla, then slink into a San Telmo tango salon. Just a few miles out of town lie the flat, fertile grasslands of the pampas, the birthplace of Gaucho culture, where proud traditions still thrive.
Ibera Wetlands
Argentina’s largest natural reserve, the Esteros del Ibera wetlands, are a haven for wildlife making it a premier destination for our specialist Argentina tours. The lakes, lagoons and marshlands are home to over 350 bird species and some of South America’s most iconic wildlife including capybaras, caimans, howler monkeys, giant otters and even a growing population of jaguars. Horseride with local gauchos to access the remotest reaches, fly-fish for dorado or climb into a boat or canoe for up-close wildlife encounters and bird watching from the water. As a lesser travelled destination for Argentina tours, the Ibera offers something unexpected and truly remarkable!
Iguazú Falls
Straddling the international the border, Iguazú Falls are one of the world's most wondrous (and deafening) sights – and make for an excellent segue between our Brazil and Argentina tours. Standing some 80m high and 3km wide, the falls are made up of many cascades that generate vast sprays of water and produce one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. Sitting within the UNESCO world Heritage Site of Iguazú National Park (named Iguaçu National Park on the Brazilian side) they are enveloped by thick tropical rainforest teeming with toucans and tapirs – the perfect addition to one of our wildlife-focussed Argentina tours.
Mendoza & the Wine Region
Mendoza is one of the greatest wine regions of the world, and that makes it a great destination for anyone that wants to return from their Argentina tours having discovered the latest varietal. With over 144,000ha of planted vineyards it produces nearly two-thirds of the country’s wine and some of Argentina’s most highly rated Malbecs originate from its high-altitude wine regions of Lujan de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. Expect endless rows of vines, pretty mountain scenery, blue skies, fine dining and some of the best wineries in the world. As Argentina continues to emerge as a world-class wine region, our Argentina tours reveal its hidden treasures.

We wanted the opportunity to see as many wildlife parks as possible and the Classic Safari Company provided an action-packed itinerary that included six, with 11 tiger sightings and nine leopard. This was overlaid with an introduction to Jaisalmer, Jaipur and the 'real' India. Pench and Panna were the hidden gems of a really great trip, very well organised, seamless and enjoyable. As a solo traveller I felt incredibly safe at all times. I want to go back!
