Borana Ranch lies at the foot of Mount Kenya, just sixteen miles from the Equator. Adjacent to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, its unique geographical situation makes the 35,000-acre ranch a haven for a wide diversity of wildlife.
The lodge has panoramic views of Mount Kenya and to the Ngare Ndare Forest, is a supremely comfortable and luxurious lodge and totally in keeping with its surroundings.
Accommodation is in eight cottages all with an open fireplace, en-suite bathrooms and private verandas. Primarily built for privacy; each cottage is exclusively sited with its own special view, totally secluded from its neighbour. There is a central eating with huge fireplace looking onto the valley below. All food is freshly prepared in the kitchen with vegetables and farm produce from the farm, freshly squeezed juice from the orchard and wines from around the world.
Borana offers an insight into the workings of a modern ranch, farming Boran cattle, as well as the opportunity to visit the lodge’s community and rhino conservation projects. Game drives are offered in the company of rangers and trackers with encyclopedic knowledge of the area and the wide diversity of flora and fauna. Other activities include game walks, night game drives, horse rides, mountain biking, bush meals where you want them and swimming in the horizon pool with superb views over the valley.
