estancia life at its best - an Asado at Caballadas, a family run estancia in Northern Patagonia

Caballadas

Northern Patagonia, Argentina

Five generations of Argentine heritage & hospitality

Dubbed Patagonia’s best-kept secret, Caballadas is located on a private estancia to the north of Lanín National Park, the most secluded and scenic part of the Patagonia Lake District in Argentina. Family owned and operated since 1908, it combines the warmth of five generations of hospitality with modern day luxury and style.

The Valley Lodge, or “La Casa Grande” (The Big House), is located at the heart of the ranch, set on top of a hill providing a breathtaking view of the entire valley and surrounding area. This traditional family house is made of native oak wood and stone, typical of the region. It can accommodate up to 12 people in 8 bedrooms and 5 shared bathrooms. A large dining room and communal living room with a fireplace create an inviting, convivial atmosphere and a private chef will create delicious meals catered to your tastes, either at the house or in any number of stunning outdoor locations.

Caballadas is home to 60 beautiful horses that roam free across the 20,000 hectare ranch. Guests can choose to ride local stock horses, Criollos and polo ponies to explore soaring Andean peaks, hidden valleys, beautiful lakes and enchanted forests of ancient monkey puzzle trees. Fly fishing is also a must during your stay since the property boasts one of the most exclusive fly-fishing rivers in Patagonia, the Quillen, famous among dry fly fanatics for its trout.

Combing stunning natural beauty with genuine hospitality, Caballadas offers an exquisite estancia experience.
