The Emakoko is a family-owned and run lodge artfully built into the side of a valley on the Mbagathi River, which borders the Nairobi National Park – a 45-minute transfer from either the domestic or International airports of Nairobi.
There are ten beautifully appointed en suite rooms that look out over the game park so one can fall asleep to the sounds of Africa, a lion roaring or the call of a lone hyena. There is also a private house, perfect for larger groups looking for an intimate and exclusive area to unwind after a long flight or time spent in the bush. The central lodge provides an open, airy and informal environment where guests can relax. There is a viewing area and swimming pool that both overlook the river.
Take a game drive into one of the most unique game parks in Africa, or visit the community that borders it. Take the opportunity to visit the nearby David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the most unique elephant & rhino relocation program in the world, or the Giraffe Centre which is home to the endangered Rothschild’s Giraffe. For the adventure seeker take a helicopter flight over Mount Kenya, or perhaps a trip to the Maasai Mara directly from the lodge’s own helipad.
The Emakoko allows people to start and finish their safari in the wildlife environment they have travelled so far to enjoy.
