Open air game viewing opportunities beneath a thatched roof at Takwela

Takwela

North Luangwa, Zambia

Intimate wilderness experience

Takwela camp is located in the North Luangwa, a well managed remote park in Zambia. Situated on private land at the confluence of the Luangwa and Mwaleshi rivers, guests have unrivalled experiences viewing many of the resident hippo pod and exclusive access to over 50km of Luangwa river frontage!

The area is prime wildlife country and as time passes, game viewing becomes even better as the wildlife gets more accustomed to human presence (the camp opened in 2017). Visits of three nights or more are recommended, and the camp currently accommodates a maximum of four guests in two en-suite chalets, these chalets constructed with local natural materials and by local people and skills.

The property is a 30 minute scenic flight from the South Luangwa, flying over dramatic riverine landscape, followed by a 45 minute game drive and a short canoe crossing to reach the camp. Guests can expect to partake in day and night game drives, walking safaris, sundowners, leisurely morning and afternoon teas, and the ultimate remote experience in 4636 kilometres of Africa’s best.
