Lakeside bliss

Tea Trails bungalows are located some 4,000 feet above sea level in the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea growing country, an area known as the Dickoya Region in the Southern Highlands.

Tea Trails comprises of four classic colonial bungalows built for British tea estate managers in the days of the Raj. Each bungalow is different combining both classical and contemporary styles. The effect is quintessentially luxurious and colonial; a stroll back in time but entirely resplendent in modern amenities.

Summerville Bungalow is the most intimate of the Tea Trails bungalows with only four rooms, making it ideal for a family or a small group of friends. It is set right on the edge of Castlereagh Lake with stunning views over the water and the tea plantations on the opposite hill. The living room is very cozy with glass doors, a well-stocked drinks cabinet and a log fire. The suites, some of which open to private gardens, are beautifully decorated. The latest addition to the grounds is a serene infinity edge pool, perfect for a refreshing dip after a day walking in the hills.

There are a number of things you can do at Tea Trails. You could be forgiven for staying in the bungalow and enjoying the gardens, the views, the setting and the amazing hospitality but we would definitely recommend you make the effort to venture out and enjoy the hikes, wander into local villages, take       perspectives of mountains from different vantage points and mingle with the friendly pluckers and the workers of the tea plantations.
