Somalisa Acacia Camp is the family-friendly sister camp to Somalisa, and sits just a few hundred metres away, tucked quietly away on an acacia islands along the edge of an ancient flood plain. Set on a private concession in the heart of Hwange National Park, known as the ‘land of the giants’ for its elephant herds, it offers a fantastically rich wildlife experience for safari enthusiasts of all ages.
The camp consists of 2 two-bedroom family units with inter-leading walkways, in addition to 2 one-bedroom sail tents. Each tent includes gauze sliding doors, a glass wood-burner fireplace for the cold winter nights, and an overhead fan for the hot summer days, and en suite bathrooms with flush toilets, an indoor and outdoor shower and a copper slipper-style bathtub. All the tents are wonderfully luxurious, beautifully styled and raised on decks under the dappled canopy of a grove of trees.
The camp enjoys its own private views of a small water hole, frequented by plenty of wildlife including elephant, kudu, zebra, giraffe and lion. A small splash pool allows you to cool off during the heat of the day and enjoy the view, cocktail in hand. Activities include game drives and walking excursions with professional guides and special programs can be arranged for children with experienced safari professionals.
