Traditional Mara Safari

Offbeat Mara Camp is traditional safari at its very best – private and small, the camp offers excellent game viewing in one of the most famous Safari destinations in the world. Just six classic canvas tents, and a prime location means that you experience a truly individual and tailored stay. The game-viewing away from the masses, can be done in both the serene and unspoilt Mara North Conservancy or into the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve.

The camp’s location is on the Olare Orok, a meandering tributary of the Mara River. The river cuts through the centre of the Mara North Conservancy, a vivid swathe of green that allows an unrivalled habitat for game. Four of the ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo are all seen regularly around camp.

Offbeat Mara Camp, along with several other camps, founded the Mara North Conservancy in January 2009 – a pristine reserve with a strict cap on visitor and vehicle numbers. The conservancy is incredibly rich in wildlife and has one of the lowest densities of tourist visitors in the greater Mara ecosystem. Unrestricted by National Park rules, guests can enjoy full day game drives, evening drives, bush breakfasts, picnics and the famous Kenyan sun-downers. Visits to the wildebeest crossing points on the Mara River during the migration, local Masai village, nearby rhino sanctuary, and Koyaki guiding school, as well as scenic flights and hot air balloon safaris, can all be enjoyed from Offbeat Mara.
