Muchenje Safari Lodge

Chobe, Botswana

The jewel of western Chobe

Situated on an escarpment, on the remote western side of the world famous Chobe National Park, Muchenje Safari Lodge overlooks the Chobe River and Caprivi floodplain.  Offering a unique and prolific wildlife experience Muchenje has become famous for superb access to the wilderness of the Western Chobe and its huge population of wild animals and birds.

Muchenje accommodates just twenty guests in intimate exclusivity. Each of the ten en-suite thatched chalets has its own balcony and unique view on the edge of the escarpment.

The main lodge features a dining area, bar, reception, curio shop, game viewing platform and library. The swimming pool is built amongst natural rock formations, taking advantage of the African vista and providing a tranquil setting for guests to relax during the heat of the day. Meals are served table d’bush, wholesome and plentiful, yet well presented. Guests dine together on a long railway sleeper dining table; dress is always informal. Owner run and managed, attention to detail is paramount at Muchenje.

Muchenje offers the most diverse safari activities to be found in the Chobe area. Day and night game drives are conducted in open Land Rovers with qualified professional guides. River Cruises offer the chance to experience game viewing on the Chobe River as you drift noiselessly past a bathing herd of elephants, pod of hippos or languishing croc.  Birdlife is prolific and fishing and game drives to the most remote parts of central Chobe will gladly be arranged.
