Laikipia, Kenya

On the edge of the escarpment

Loisaba Tented Camp is perched on the edge of a 500ft escarpment with dramatic views across the Laikipia plains to snow capped Mount Kenya. It sits within the stunningly beautiful Loisaba ‐ a 56,000 acre private wildlife conservancy famous for its elephant population and big cats.

There are twelve rooms at Loisaba, two of which are family rooms. All the rooms are luxurious and authentically African. You also have the unique opportunity to try a night under the stars on a specially designed ‘star bed’ in their sister camp – a magical and unforgettable experience.

The Loisaba conservancy is vast meaning that you will almost never bump into any other visitors, the terrain and habitats are vastly diverse and the spectacular animal life that is wild and free. One of the best ways to view it is on a game drive with a knowledgeable guide but you will also be invited to horse ride, quad bike, cycle, walk or take a camel safari ‐ the traditional mode of transport in the dry land of Northern Kenya. Fishing can also be arranged in the river and dams all year round.

All profits generated by tourism activities at Loisaba are dedicated to conservation of the 56,000‐acre private wilderness area, in addition to supporting community orientated health, education and enterprise programmes outside its boundaries with the neighbouring Samburu and Laikipia Maasai tribes so any visit will not only conserve the environment but also pay for the education and welfare of the people who call this remote and magnificent region home.
