Oozing rustic chic, Lake Burunge Tented Lodge provides a quintessential African safari experience. Nestled beneath thatched rooves and with Lake Burunge glistening on the horizon, the lodge is an excellent destination for game viewing, particularly the large elephant herds for which Tarangire is renowned.
With 38 tented suites, Lake Burunge Tented Lodge is a little larger than some other more intimate properties, but it still offers a feeling of seclusion. Suites provide a choice of couples’ tents or family suites for up to five guests. You can also book neighbouring tents to combine proximity and privacy. Relax and unwind by the pool after a day’s game drive, or take in the sunset with a drink on your private balcony.
Game drives through Tarangire National Park reveal some of the most populous herds of elephant anywhere in Africa, but they are not the only attraction. Numerous ungulates are to be found here, including wildebeest and hartebeest, giraffe, zebra, oryx and, on occasion, gerenuk and dik-dik. Other mammals include lion, hippo, leopard, and rare sightings of cheetah, bat-eared foxes and African wild dogs.
You can also join a Maasai guide on a walk to the lakeshore, or take a cultural visit to one of the nearby Hadzabe villages.
