Kalepo Camp is an intimate tented luxury bush camp, set in a shady grove of acacias on a dry river with sweeping views of the majestic Mathews Mountains. Offered on a private use basis, it offers a true bush-luxury tented camp experience, with exclusive use of 390,000 acres straddling both side of the Matthews Mountains.
Its location sees it nestled quietly in the heart of Samburuland, Northern Kenya, where people and wildlife co-exist as they have done for centuries. From authentic kijijis (Samburu villages) to incredible elephant sightings; from singing wells to soaring mountains; the camp is the perfect location to explore the diversity of Kenya’s north, the last area before entering the wild Turkana country.
The resident Samburu people form the heart and soul of the region; living and interacting with the landscape as they have for millennia. The absolute highlight of your stay is spending time with these incredible people; observing the spectacle of the singing wells, mingling in their villages at dusk or dawn, and experiencing their timeless traditions firsthand.
During your downtime in camp, you can continue to enjoy intimate wildlife encounters at the camp waterhole, at the purpose-built hide, or simply in your tented suit as the plains game ambles by. The tents are beautifully designed and tastefully decorated, all with en-suite facilities fitted with double basins, running water, flush loos and hot showers. Open to the elements, they allow you to shower under the stars or watch the birds while you wash your hair! Soft towels and beautiful high quality linen add to the sense of understated luxury.
