Spread sparingly along the island’s long beach, five villas blend seamlessly along the foreshore, offering absolute privacy and stunning ocean views. Embracing Papua New Guinean design, each features free flowing interiors and open sides, blurring the distinction between inside and outside and allowing the sounds of nature to float in. The main building captures the spirit of the island with heavy beams, a high thatched roof and light flickering from the cooking fire. At the ocean, a thatched jetty hovers over a lagoon that vibrates with fish life.
Menus focus on the island’s exquisite seafood presented just minutes after being caught. What is not caught is grown – papaya, banana, grapefruit and passionfruit are picked from the orchard, fresh toasted coconut flavours the homemade muesli, eggs are produced by free roaming chickens and salad is grown in the gardens.
Tailored excursions include helicopter rides to isolated swimming waterfalls, spearfishing for lunch off a deserted cay, sunset champagne on the sand dunes, snorkelling, walking and soaking up the tonic of nature in solitude.
