Duke's East

Okavango Delta - Botswana

Maximalist safari style

Duke’s East is the sister camp to Duke’s Camps, and delivers the same panache and maximalist safari style as one would expect from its creator, Ralph Bousfield, of the world famous Jack’s Camp.

With just four opulent guest tents, it is available as an intimate hideaway for independent safari goers, or can be booked as an exclusive-use camp for family and friends to enjoy. The safari tents are pitched on raised wooden decks beneath a canopy of ebony and leadwood trees and are bedecked in the signature vintage safari style of Persian rugs, four-poster beds, brass fittings and leather campaign chairs. Each has a private viewing deck from which to observe the wealth of wildlife as it ambles by.

The main mess area is an elegant Persian tea-tent, brimming with curiosities and old world glamour. Lavish three course meals, complete with crystal glasses and antique silverware, are served around long tables in the communal dining tent, which invites convivial conversation as guests recount tales from the day.

Activities focus around the prolific wildlife of the Delta and include game drives, boating, fly camping and helicopter excursions to the Tsodilo Hills—a fascinating World heritage Site with over 4,500 individual rock paintings. The guiding is famously top notch across the board.

Boasting generations of heritage, an astonishing wealth of wildlife and some of the best guides in Africa, Duke’s East offers unique character in an unfiltered African wilderness.
