Coconut Lagoon

Kumarakom, India

A beautiful oasis of all-sorts

Coconut Lagoon is located in the Kerala district of Kuttanad, a spot where you can explore the heritage of the old fuedal villages of Malabar, the vast Vembanad lake, the shimmering waters of the canals that criss-cross the property and the flavour bursts of Kerala home-style cooking.

Some of the buildings at Coconut Lagoon are over 150 years old, having been painstakingly transported here from former estates across the country. The building housing the reception is over 400 years and, as with all the architecture here, has been carefully restored to showcase elaborate carvings and intricate metalwork.

The rooms at Coconut Lagoon include heritage mansions and pool villas with their own private plunge pool and garden space. All are individually designed using furniture reclaimed from traditional homes or built by local craftsmen and offset with rich linens and luxurious finishing.

The dining experience is excellent, showcasing the best of Kerala’s cuisine – fresh fish served on banana leaves, rich clay pot curries and a lakeside grill to enjoy the tantalising Malabar flavours with an idyllic water view.

During your stay you are free to wander through the cool wildflower and   butterfly garden, enjoy the ancient healing art of Ayurveda with a massage or spa treatment, take a sunset cruise on the lake or explore the intricate network of canals through the property by canoe.

Sitting amongst rice paddies, tranquil waterways and lush gardens whilst boasting authentic heritage and exquisite cuisine, Coconut Lagoon offers a unique and fascinating insight into this beautiful corner of Kerala.
