Brunton Boatyard

Cochin, India

A seaside delight

Moored on a historic stretch of Cochin’s famed harbour, the Brunton Boatyard Hotel was created using the restored remains of a Victorian shipbuilding yard. Nodding to Kerala’s eclectic colonial past, it is unique hotel with a fascinating  heritage and undeniable charm.

The interiors are a wonderful blend of English, Portuguese and Dutch influences with soaring ceilings, hanging fans, and a selection of artefacts from the great age of steam and sail.  Similarly the cuisine on offer uses the freshest of local ingredients to reflect the melting pot of cultures – Indian spices and local dishes, Portuguese influence and delicious Dutch puddings with plenty of fresh cinnamon.

All of the Brunton Boatyard Hotel’s twenty-two rooms overlook the ocean so you can watch boats idle by, enjoy a spectacular sunset over the palm fringed shores of Vypeen Island and spot dolphins and cormorants as you soak in your tub. Throughout the hotel high ceilings, natural light and airy interiors give a sense of space and elegance while the Armoury Cafe is a warm, intimate space to enjoy a nightcap.

During the day you can wander the historic Fort Cochin area, where the hotel stands, on foot and as the sun starts to sink you may wish to join a rooftop cooking class or take a cruise on the harbor from the private jetty.

Brunton Boatyard offers a unique experience which celebrates the very best of centuries of cultural influence  whilst also blending authenticity with stylish  contemporary design.
