Bamurru Plains is located on the edge of the Mary River floodplains just a short distance from the coast and the western boundary of the 1,980,400 ha Kakadu National Park. It can be reached via a three hour drive from Darwin, or by scenic charter flight that takes just 30 minutes and flies over some of the most spectacular wetlands in the world.
Surrounded by an exotic landscape of wild palms and twisting trees, Bamurru Plains is the perfect spot from which to explore the mysteries and magnificence of this ancient land, and an excellent escape to relax in a comfortable chair. Spacious and cool, each of the nine safari bungalows are built on stilts overlooking the floodplains frequented by a myriad of bird and animal life, all audible and visible without having to leave your bed. During the heat of the day the cooling waters of the infinity pool beckon and later the lounging deck is the ideal place to watch wildlife graze through the camp. An expert chef conjures up delicious meals using fresh, local ingredients.
Explore this region of exceptional natural beauty and unique biodiversity on an airboat skimming through a wilderness of clear water and tall grass or on a 4×4 safari or walking safari through the savannah searching for wallabies, buffalos and dingos in the company of an expert guide. At times you will pause to consider an intriguing reptile or termite mound as you learn about the intricacies of the wilderness and its ecosystems.
