Gourmet food in the Cape Winelands South Africa - a herb garden like no other beside Babel Restaurant

Babylonstoren

Drakenstein Valley, South Africa

Stunning 17th century organic farm

Babylonstoren lies in the Drakenstein Valley between Franschhoek and Paarl. Surrounded by the Simonsberg, Du Toitskloof and Franschhoek Mountains, Babylonstoren is in the heart of the Cape Winelands. It is some 60 km from the city of Cape Town and an easy 45 min drive to Cape Town International Airport.

The guest suites echo Cape Dutch farm buildings of the 17th and 18th century, outer walls are whitewashed and decorated with ornate gables and thatched roofs. Interiors are pleasantly cool in summer and are heated by open hearths in winter. The spacious suites include an en-suite, comfortable sitting area and open fireplace. Enjoy superb cuisine at the restaurant Babel, or enjoy a cup of tea in the Greenhouse whilst nibbling on fresh salads straight from the garden, breads from the old wood-fired oven and a variety of dressed meats and handcrafted cheeses.

A range of activities are offered at Babylonstoren, depending on how energetic you want to be. They cater for staying guests who want to cycle, gym, jog, swim, hike or merely stroll, to those wishing to pamper their bodies and revive their spirits or those who prefer to sip wine and relax. Explore the nearby wine farms of Stellenbosch or Paarl or spend a day of adventure on the water shark diving or whale watching.

Babylonstoren is the perfect base from which to explore or simply relax.
