A Wilderness Adventure Across the Okavango Delta

Kweene Trails offers an authentic safari experience in the remote western reaches of Botswana’s spectacular Okavango Delta, far from busier areas and surrounded by unspoilt wilderness. With just five spacious Meru-style tents, each with en suite facilities and private verandas, these twin camps are designed for travellers who value exclusivity and a deep connection to nature. Positioned along the seasonal Kweene River, both camps provide a tranquil setting where wildlife congregates and birdlife flourishes.

Exploration is at the heart of your stay, with highly experienced guides leading day and night game drives, revealing the remarkable diversity of the concession. Depending on water levels, you can drift silently through channels on a mokoro, offering a traditional and peaceful perspective of the Delta. Guided walking safaris provide an even closer encounter with the land, where you can learn about tracks, plants, and the intricate ecosystem that sustains the wildlife.

Both camps are all but identical in their design, little more than the patterns on the linen differing from one camp to the next. With a maximum occupancy of ten guests between both camps, exclusivity is guaranteed. Like the design, experiences in each camp are equal and identical, exploring the same private concession and offering the same activities. The nature of these twin camps allows guests to take a day’s guided walking safari from one to the other, your luggage being transferred between camps as armed guides escort you on a fascinating gentle hike across 12 kilometres of Okavango wilderness.

Guests are provided backpacks, water, a packed lunch and bed rolls, and during the walk you will stop to savour a delicious picnic, read a book of have a siesta as you rest for a couple of hours midway through your journey. During high-water seasons, this walk may be combined with mokoro rides, so guests will walk half the way and then be met to be poled along the tranquil waterways for the remainder of the journey.

The simplicity of the camps is part of their charm. Solar power, no wifi, canvas walls, and lantern-lit evenings all contribute to an atmosphere that feels adventurous yet comfortable. Meals are enjoyed communally in the dining tent or under the stars, with stories shared around the fire as the sounds of the bush play in the background.

Ideal for safari purists, photographers, and those seeking privacy, Kweene Trails delivers a rare opportunity to experience the Okavango Delta in its raw and natural form, where comfort meets authenticity for an intimate escape into one of Africa’s most remarkable landscapes.
