As the little sister to Sable Alley camp, Little Sable is a relaxed yet intimate hideout in the heart of the game-rich Khwai Private Reserve, a private concession in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.
With just eight rooms it is wonderfully peaceful and intimate, with an emphasis on relaxed hospitability. Each room is a cosy retreat from the elements and all have wonderfully large beds (that can also be twins), writing desks, cool en suite bathrooms, outside showers and private viewing decks with views across the shimmering grasslands. The main area offers a bright lounge and dining area with extended outside decking and a large fire pit which makes the perfect spot for morning tea or an early evening G&T. Located just in front of a favourite grazing spot for zebra and elephant, it’s also a fabulous wildlife-watching base. Under thatch, the bar, lounge and dining areas are stylish but retain a sense of old world African safari charm.
Khwai Private Reserve is one of the best-managed private concessions in the greater Okavango Delta and the activities focus on discovering its many facets. Choose between morning and afternoon game drives, punting through the waterways on a dugout canoe, settling into a hide for some up-close-and-personal wildlife encounters, and sleeping under the stars on a skybed platform.
