Lekkerwater Beach Lodge

De Hoop Reserve, South Africa

Marine safaris and botanical abundance

Located little more than three hours’ drive from Cape Town, and just a short way off the scenic Garden Route, Lekkerwater enjoys an enviable position perched atop the ancient dunes of the beautiful De Hoop Nature Reserve.

Seven intimate off‐grid guest rooms are simply decorated in a bright and breezy coastal style, and each boasts a private deck overlooking the breath taking five‐kilometre stretch of secluded beach. At the main lodge the focus is on offering a comfortable and unique beach experience with expansive open‐plan interiors, cool styling, supreme peacefulness and endless sea views.

Since 1985 the waters off De Hoop have been designated as a Marine Protected Area, and it is well known for its mature ecosystems and remarkable sea life. It offers some of the world’s best land‐based whale watching, particularly during July to November when the Southern Right whales migrate right past, as well as sightings of dolphins, seals and sea birds. At Lekkerwater a team of naturalists lead guided walks to explore the thriving and fascinating inter‐tidal ecosystem, while high tide sends travellers inland to discover De Hoop Nature Reserve’s wealth of biodiversity. Alongside the remarkable fynbos vegetation, more than 260 bird species have been recorded here, including the Western Cape’s only breeding colony of the endangered Cape Vulture.

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge offers a luxurious off‐grid coastal escape and an entirely unique marine safari experience.
