Located at the foot of the mountains where the Inca civilisation once flourished, and zigzagging around the calm waters of Urumbamba River, the Sacred Valley blends stunning natural beauty with fascinating ancient history. Explora Valle Sagrado is located in one of the region’s most remote ancient corn plantations, close to the Urquillos village, where it is surrounded by plantations that are still being harvested by locals today.
The lodge has been sympathetically constructed in natural wood and stone to complement its historic surroundings. The 50 rooms are designed as peaceful havens with maximum silence to ensure a deep rest after a long day of exploration. With this in mind there are no TVs in the rooms, just stunning views of the plantations and mountains beyond. Communal spaces are open and relaxed creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Light, nutritious meals are created using the finest fresh local produce and are always matched with excellent wines.
During your stay you will be offered a number of explorations, all led by a skilled guide, to showcase the surrounding valleys, mountains and plateaus. The guide will recommend experiences according to your fitness level and interests but activities include a huge range of stunning and challenging biking and hiking trails, plus excursions to Machu Picchu, Cusco and beyond.
