Located in the heart of the Okavango Delta on the Xudum River, Kanana Camp offers an authentic Delta experience in an exclusive and serene setting. With just seven spacious tents, each raised on stilts and thoughtfully positioned for privacy, guests enjoy sweeping views across the floodplains or channels from their private decks. The tents are elegantly appointed and include comfortable beds, en suite bathrooms, and indoor as well as outdoor showers.
Kanana’s diverse habitats support an abundance of wildlife, and game drives offer opportunities to spot lion, elephant, giraffe, and elusive species such as sitatunga. Water levels permitting, guests can explore the Delta’s channels by mokoro or motorboat, offering an entirely different perspective on this unique ecosystem. Walking safaris add a slower-paced immersion into the flora, birdlife, and subtle movements of the bush.
The nearby heronry is a major highlight, particularly during breeding season when thousands of birds including marabou storks, egrets, and herons congregate. This seasonal spectacle is one of the largest in southern Africa and accessible by boat when the floodwaters rise.
Dining is a relaxed affair, often enjoyed al fresco beneath the stars or in the thatched dining area. The camp’s commitment to sustainability is evident through its solar power systems and meaningful partnerships with local communities.
