Mokete luxury safari camp Botswana

Mokete Camp

Okavango Delta - Botswana

Open-roof sleeping

South of Chobe National Park, and east of Moremi Game Reserve, Mokete Camp sits in the little known region of Mababe. Here, the permanent marshland remains the only water source for miles around in the dry season, and is a magnet for immense densities of wildlife. As a brand new camp in an untouched area, it offers the rare opportunity to witness a secret pocket of untamed wilderness before anyone else.

The camp accommodates just eighteen guests in nine tents, all of which are open to the plains and boast cantilevered canvas roofs that slide away to reveal never-ending starry skies. Comfortable lounge and dining areas overlook  the uninterrupted grassland, with the curvature of the Earth discernible on the distant horizon, and private plunge pools offer the perfect spot to cool off.

Nature dictates time and there is no imposed routine. Game drives are captivating, showcasing the dance between predators and prey, and you are welcome to spend entire days on the plains if you wish. Nature walks offer a whole new perspective, and the bush comes alive on night drives with the cry of a jackal or the roar of a lion floating through the darkness. A sunken hide on the marshland brings you breathtakingly close to a Noah’s Ark of creatures, and you can watch them all, gin and tonic in hand, as they amble unhurriedly past.

The name Mokete means ‘celebration’ or ‘feast’ and it is certainly a place to celebrate nature in all her untamed beauty. Here the action never ends—a true feast for the senses.
