Queeny Of The Nile is a luxury dahabeya boat which travels elegantly between Esna (Luxor) and Aswan through the beautiful Nile landscape. A dahabeya is a traditional Egyptian sailing ship traditionally built for Egyptian celebrities and the royal family who liked to travel the Nile for recreation. Today such boats remain an idyllic mode of transport, cruising without a motor in idyllic silence.
Queeny offers ten comfortable outside-facing cabins (3.25 x 3.5 m) with large windows, and two spacious suites (4.9 x 4m) with their own terrace. Each has a private modern bathroom and plenty of storage space. Every cabin’s interior is inspired by a different flower and the design throughout is a blend of antique furniture pieces, rich textiles and cool white walls. Dining usually takes place on the deck and menus are traditionally Egyptian with flavours reflecting the country’s long history—expect Persian, Greek, Ottoman and European influences with plenty of vegetarian options.
When it comes to sightseeing, a dahabeya such as Queeny can dock in places where large cruise ships cannot and therefore offers exclusive access to sights with far fewer visitors. While relaxing on the sundeck you’ll see sugar cane plantations and date palms pass by, as well as every day life unfolding as people water their animals, wash their clothes, and frolic in the shallows.
