Sossus Under Canvas is an exclusive, semi‐mobile camp designed specifically to provide an authentic safari experience in the wilds of Namibia without ever compromising on comfort. Located on the private 24,000 hectare Neuhof Nature Reserve, nestled between the Nubib and Zaris Mountains, this camp is a mere thirty minutes’ drive from the Sossusvlei gate, the gateway to the Great Namib Sand Sea which has recently been declared a World Heritage Site.
This camp is booked on an exclusive basis so you will never share it, heightening the sense of space and solitude. It offers eight tents, two of which are family units, and each measures 4mx4mx3m with open air bathrooms providing hot showers and flush toilets. The central area comprises a dining area and lounge complete with fireplace. Throughout, recycled materials are artfully incorporated into stylish architectural design, natural cooling systems are employed and the camp is virtually invisible from any distance. It carries the lowest environmental footprint of any camp in Namibia.
Activities include visits to Sossusvlei with a private guide, nature walks and drives in the Neuhof Nature Reserve to spot cheetah, leopard, aardwolf and more, dips in unique desert pools, and some of the finest star gazing on the planet. Sleep outs under the stars can be arranged and are highly recommended for those seeking romance and adventure! The camp also provides a convenient base from which to enjoy hot air ballooning.
