Bakwena Lodge is an eco-luxury retreat on the banks of the Chobe River close to the friendly village of Kazangula. It sits just 1.5kms from the meeting place of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana, surrounded by the Chobe National Park and forest reserve, and just 90kms from Victoria Falls.
The Lodge comprises ten rondavel style chalets, two of which are family units, and all situated under the shady canopy of Acacia trees, surrounded by indigenous riverine bush. Each chalet offers laid-back luxury with its own raised deck overlooking the river, built-in daybeds and an inside/outside bathroom offering the must-do experience of showering under an African night sky surrounded by the sounds of the bush. The main lodge boasts expansive, airy interiors and stylish décor with contemporary design alongside carefully selected authentic African pieces. Dishes served in the restaurant are inspired by traditional Setswana cuisine and the Rain Tree bar, overlooking the river, is the perfect spot for an evening cocktail.
Chobe is home to Africa’s largest elephant population so game drives, boat cruises and nature walks revolve largely around observing these magnificent creatures. You may also wish to try bird watching, visit a local village, hop across the river to Namibia’s Impalila Island, fish for Tigerfish or take a river cruise.
