Etosha Mountain Lodge sits in the exclusive Etosha Heights Private Reserve on the southwest border of Etosha National Park. Founded in 1999, Etosha Heights is one of the largest private reserves in Namibia, sharing a 65 kilometre border with the famous Etosha National Park. This exclusive location means you can enjoy the uninterrupted peace and solitude that comes from staying in a private reserve, far from tourist crowds, but enjoy all of Etosha’s iconic wildlife.
Seven comfortable chalets all enjoy ensuite bathrooms, indoor showers and enormous bathtubs, perfect for sinking into after a busy day wildlife-watching. A bright and breezy ‘lapa’ (thatched communal space) area is the feature of the camp, and here you’ll find the restaurant and bar, as well of plenty of sitting areas, where you can socialize with others over sundowners cocktails or be alone with a good book. There is also a cool swimming pool, a well-stocked wine cellar and a curio shop. Wherever you to choose to relax, the panoramas stretching ahead are magnificent – think dramatic skies, vast plains and wildlife wandering to and fro.
Etosha Heights is well known for its rhino population and these endangered giants amble freely between the private reserve and Etosha National Park leaving unmistakable footprints in the dust. In addition to rhinos, twice daily game drives will give you the opportunity to spot elephant, kudu and plenty of antelope species, followed closely by strong numbers of lion, cheetah and even leopard. Being on private land, night drives are also possible and heading out with a guide and a spotlight after dark is a thrilling way to spot Etosha’s rarely seen nocturnal creatures.
