Rare white lion bliss
Set on top of a small koppie in the northern Timbavati Private Game Reserve, Simbavati Hilltop Lodge offers magnificent views of the bush, the Nhlaralumi River and the distant foothills of the Drakensberg mountain range.
Accommodation consists of eight individual pavilion-style luxury tented suites. Each comprises two individual tents – one for the main bedroom, and one for a separate bathroom that can be opened up on one side allowing for an indoor or outdoor shower experience. The furniture and décor is stylishly African in design blending raw wood with elegant linens and stone. Shared spaces include a game-viewing deck overlooking the river, an infinity pool with panoramic views, a bar and a lounge area complete with a selection of books and games.
Morning and evening game drives are conducted by experienced ranger/guides and Shangaan trackers in open 4X4 vehicles. Traversing over 12 000 hectares of Big 5 country guests might expect to see lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo, as well as kudu, zebra, warthog and giraffe to name a few. The Timbavati Game Reserve is also one of the few places in the world to spot the unique white lions in their natural environment.
