Kanga Camp sits an hour inland from the slow flowing Zambezi River within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Mana Pools National Park. On a private concession, it is set away from the crowds in a remote area amidst multiple vlei lines, the river systems of the Ruckomechi River and mixed vegetation landscapes including Mopane woodland, Jesse bush and riverine forests.
The Camp offers just six comfortable tented bedrooms, all with en-suite bathroom facilities, outdoor showers and basins overlooking the water hole. Two of the tents are family/honeymoon tents with their own private dining and seating area. The whole camp is set beside an active waterhole and since this is the only known water source in the area it is a real wildlife hub, especially in the dry season. The main lounge and dining areas are coolly shaded by mahogany trees and offer close encounters and supreme wildlife sightings from the comfort of your armchair on the deck. In the evenings you’ll enjoy great home cooked meals shared around the table with other guests, guides and rangers in the central dining and lounge area.
Besides game drives, bird watching and walking excursions, an hour’s drive brings you to the Zambezi flood plains in Mana Pools for canoeing and fishing excursions. Kanga Pan attracts high concentrations of game with lion, wild dog and leopard often sighted. Large herds of buffalo, kudu, zebra, impala and waterbuck are regularly encountered and elephant take advantage of the plentiful albida trees in the area.
As the year progresses and the seasons change, Kanga Camp undergoes a series of transformations, bringing with it varied and unique opportunities to encounter some of Africa’s finest bird and wildlife species. Pristine and undeveloped, this area gives you a pure, unspoilt, private African safari experience.
