Surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, lush gardens and vines, the original farmstead complex of Boschendal Farm, one of the oldest farms in South Africa having been founded in 1685, now offers beautiful accommodation and a blissful taste of rural South African life.
Guest accommodation ranges from the exclusive and historic Rhodes Cottage built by Sir Herbert Baker to the elegantly restored Werf Cottages with ravishing mountain views and the Orchard cottages – family-friendly homes with large gardens and a shared swimming pool. All are beautifully restored with an emphasis on stylish simplicity which embraces contemporary living yet retains the authenticity and charm of their rural heritage.
Dining options include eating at the Werf Restaurant, Farm Shop & Deli, Rhone Homestead or Le Pique Nique; having breakfast, lunch or dinner baskets brought to your cottage; or picking up some fresh farm produce at the deli and preparing it at the cottage.
The farm itself is a notable food and wine destination with expansive vineyards producing world-class wine, fruit trees, vegetable gardens and a growing herd of free range, 100% pasture fed Angus cattle all illustrating the commitment to field-to-fork dining. Cottage guests can enjoy access to the entire farm where they can go wine tasting, choose to join farm and history tours, walk and cycle on trails through mountain fynbos, dine under the stars, have picnics and sundowners in exclusive areas, fly-fish in the dams, pick pears, plums and citrus fruits depending on the season and swim in pristine mountain water.
