Set on the southeast coast of Madagascar, on a sheltered, forest fringed bay, Manafiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge offers superb accommodation and a chance to explore the area, including mangroves, lemur forests and the wild south coast.
There are 6 en suite chalets nestled in the forest, only a short walk to the calm waters of the sheltered bay and beach. Designed with enormous windows and sliding doors that lead to a private decked terrace, complete with sunbeds and hammock, the chalets are large and spacious.
The main area houses a bar and dining area where sumptuous meals of freshly caught fish & shellfish including crab, lobster and oysters are often served, along with a delicious selection of salads and freshly baked bread. The lodge is very proud of its eco-tourism principles sourcing many of its supplies locally, along with using solar power for electricity & hot water.
Activities are plentiful and include birding trips into the mangroves and wetlands by motorboat, seasonal whale watching (Jun-Sept), snorkeling, canoeing, boat trips to nearby islands for picnics and rainforest walks where Dwarf, Mouse, Sportive, AyeAye & Brown lemurs reside. A guided visit to the local school, village and market is also popular.
