In the land of the Rhinos
Situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river on the Conservancy, Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is set in nearly 100,000 acres within the Laikipia region of central Kenya, right on the Equator next to Mount Kenya.
The camp embodies the authentic safari experience: traditional yet very comfortable, guests often describe their stay here as ‘the real Africa’. There are seven simple safari tents accommodating a maximum of 16 guests. Tents offer an en-suite toilet and washstand on the verandah, bucket showers can be arranged at any time of day. There is a daily set menu shared communally with other guests. Most nights after dinner as you sit around the campfire you will often hear the sounds of a lions roar or a leopards grunt.
This small camp offers guests the opportunity for a unique kind of safari experience where the emphasis is on fantastic guiding, the conservation initiatives that take place in the conservancy and having fun with the superb staff. Guests can enjoy day and night game drives, a visit the Morani Information Centre or take a guided visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary which is owned by Jane Goodall, and is home to nearly 50 rescued chimpanzees. It is also possible to help with Rhino tracking with the Ol Pejeta rangers (max 2 guests per patrol) and assist with individual rhino assessments with researcher identification material.
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is the biggest rhino sanctuary in Eastern Africa, which includes the opportunity to see the last two remaining northern white rhinos in existence. It also has the highest resident game‐to‐area‐ratio of any park or reserve in Kenya.
