Nestled in the heart of the once mighty Kandyan Kingdom, Kings Pavilion is just 1.5km from the bustling heart of Kandy yet remains isolated and tranquil with breathtaking views over the Hunnasgiriya Mountain. Surrounded by misty mountains and verdant greenery it evokes the serene majesty of royal eras gone by.
The rooms here range in size and grandeur but all are spacious and airy with tasteful furnishings, high ceilings and natural timbers to reflect the warmth of the surrounding forest. All boast private balconies or small, secluded gardens—the perfect spot to enjoy your morning tea or coffee as the soft sun rises over the mountains. The restaurant serves contemporary international cuisine alongside authentic Sri Lankan dishes such as the “kollu curry” and “navaratne curry” which is prepared using nine types of local vegetables, fruits and nuts.
Kandy is a town of rich heritage and there is plenty to enjoy wandering its streets, sampling the local cuisine and exploring the many museums and temples. Sri Dalada Maligawa, (The Temple of the Tooth) is a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site and Kandy Lake lies at the heart of the city encircled by tree-lined paths, perfect for a gentle stroll. The Udawatta Kele Sanctuary is an enchanting forest once strictly reserved for royalty, now a rich reserve filled with endemic flora and birdlife.
