Sarara Camp offers a truly exceptional escape to the remote wilds of northern Kenya. Located within the 850,000-acre Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, this intimate camp delivers a rare fusion of conservation, culture, and understated luxury. Guests stay in one of six spacious tented suites, all perched on the edge of a hillside to offer sweeping views across the savannah below. Each tent features an open-air en suite bathroom and a private verandah, allowing for complete immersion in nature without compromising on comfort. The camp’s standout feature is its horizon-edge swimming pool, where elephants are often spotted drinking just beyond the deck. Wildlife is abundant here, with regular sightings of reticulated giraffe, leopard, kudu, and herds of elephant, alongside the lesser-known species that inhabit this region.
What makes Sarara truly extraordinary, however, is its deeply rooted connection to the Samburu people. Guests have the opportunity to visit the community-run singing wells, where warriors chant rhythmically to call their cattle, and learn about traditional pastoralist life through immersive and respectful encounters.
Meals are served al fresco under starlit skies or in the open dining area, with ingredients sourced from the region and menus that blend local flavours with international flair. Guided walks, game drives, and visits to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary offer further opportunities to engage with the land and its stories.
