Crater Lodge

Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

Luxury Lodge with sublime Crater views

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is perched on the edge of the world famous Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. Once the site of the British Governor’s private hunting lodge, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is one of the most architecturally spectacular safari lodges in Africa. It is a sheer indulgence of sunken baths, massages, personal butlers and arguably offering one of the most exceptional views in the world.

The lodge has 30 rooms which are separated into 3 safari camps – North, South and Tree Camp – so you only ever feel like you are in an intimate 10 room lodge. The Masai-inspired stone & thatch suites have large glass windows in the bedroom, bathroom and lounge providing magnificent views of the crater floor below. Each suite is tended by a personal butler, who will bring you tea in bed, stoke your fire and even draw your bath. The three camps each have their own huge dining area and drawing room with huge chandeliers, deep red decor and incredible views of the crater through every window.

On the crater floor you will find some of the last protected black rhino and black maned lions co-existing with Masai herdsmen. Nearly three million years old the Crater is the largest unbroken ancient caldera in the world and is considered Africa’s Garden of Eden. Once on the Crater floor, most of the animals, whilst totally wild, are very used to vehicles and as such game viewing is excellent.
