Housed within a lovingly restored 19th century property, Hotel del Parque is Guayaquil’s first luxury boutique hotel. Set among the palms and flowers of Guayaquil’s Parque Histórico, it is a tropical oasis caught in time where you will wake each morning to the sounds of parrots and spider monkeys and cool breezes from the Daule River.
The 44 rooms are elegant and contemporary, furnished entirely with stylish Ecuadorian pieces. Pale grey and yellow hues contrast refreshingly with the colourful tropics outside while remaining sympathetic to the building’s heritage and floor to ceiling windows flood the interiors with natural light. Set across two floors, the rooms all enjoy views over a quiet courtyard or out across the surrounding gardens. The spa is unique, housed in the wooden-beamed bell tower of the property’s historic chapel with spectacular 360° degree views over the gardens. Meanwhile the dining is exquisite with menus that burst with rich seafood fresh from the nearby Pacific Coast, local ingredients and dishes drawing on the customs and tropical flavours of traditional Ecuadorian cuisine.
There are various experiences available during your stay including an immersive cacao tour, a ‘behind the scenes’ look into coffee production and a tour of the wildlife sanctuary, home to astonishing birdlife and caimans.
