Sher Bagh

Ranthambore National Park, India

Tigers & Tents

Sher Bagh camp is situated on the periphery of the Ranthambore National Park, 13-km from Sawai Madhopur.  It’s 180km from Jaipur and 350km (6 hours by car) from Agra, in Rajasthan.

The 12 hand-stitched canvas tents reflect the style of the 1920’s and arouse nostalgic evocations for life on safari during the heyday of the Raj. The camp is furnished in Edwardian, campaign style furniture, which famously decked the future King Edward VIII’s celebrated tour of India’s wild heartlands in 1921. Even the en-suite bathrooms are surprisingly swish, kitted with sunken stone hot-water showers and green marble sinks with copper fittings.

The meals are bursting with flavor with Indian and Western dishes featuring on the menu. The camp also has a pool to laze in when you are not on safari and massages can be arranged.

The wildlife is spectacular: as the camp borders the national park, the site itself is frequented by over 350 species of birds, antelope and wild boar. Even leopards and tigers have been spotted or heard near the camp. Morning and afternoon safaris take place every day and the Ranthambore Fort is also well worth a visit.

Sher Bagh is an authentic, genuine tented jungle camp and the perfect base for spotting the Bengal Tiger.
